The artifact that connects to standard 10 is the Interprofessional Simulation. For this artifact, I embedded the link to the simulation video. During the Interprofessional Simulation, I worked together with another education student, a HOWAS student, and a social work student. We all had the opportunity to digest and pick a part a case study of a student who was struggling academically and socially and emotionally. We then all came together and met in order to come up with a plan to support Sammy. We were then able to meet with Sammy’s grandmother and provide a plan of action in order to help Sammy both inside and outside of school. This artifact connects to standard 10 because it shows the teachers ability of taking on proper leadership skills. During the simulation, I was able to use the proper skills and teaching techniques in order to create and convey a plan to Sammy’s grandmother. This artifact also demonstrates the opportunity to take responsibility for student learning and to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth and to advance profession. During the simulation, we were able to take responsibility for the students learning needs and came up with a plan to help the student grow in his ability to read by providing the support he needed through the Multi-tiered system of support. During the simulation, I was also able to collaborate with families, different colleagues and other professionals in order to ensure the growth of Sammy as a student inside and outside of school. The simulation also allowed me to work with others and gain a professional experience that will help me within my future job as a teacher.
This artifact will expand my pedagogical knowledge and will improve my practice as an educator. Completing this simulation allowed me to gain skills and an insight of what professional IEP meetings and other meetings may look like with other colleagues and families in my future career. This simulation allowed me to gain leadership skills and to take responsibility for my students’ learning. I was able to create a plan and set it in action in order to support my student as a learner and help them grow. As a future educator, I will continue to take responsibility for my students learning and collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, and other school professionals and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.
